U.S. urges Greece to repair bill woes

WASHINGTON, March 9 (Reuters) - Greece"s main priorityright now should be to move forward on its plans to reviveeconomic growth and bring its debt problems under control, anObama administration official said on Tuesday.

The official, speaking ahead of a meeeting between GreekPrime Minister George Papandreou and President Barack Obama,also highlighted steps the administration has taken to rein infinancial market speculation.

Papandreou on Monday called on G20 countries to crack downon speculators to avert another financial crisis.

"The central task before the Greek government is tocontinue to move forward on their plans to restore fiscalstability and growth to its economy," an administrationofficial said.

"We commend them for the bold steps they"ve already takenand have confidence that their European partners will supportthem on this difficult road."
